Phenom Labs Wicked Whey Sponsored Log

Postby kmbaltimore » Mon Nov 16, 2009 10:39 am

Before I get started I want to thank Justin and Phenom Labs for allowing me to log about Wicked Whey. This log came along at a very fortuitous time for me as I recently decided to quit using ON protein powder after being told that it didn't "test out". I am most appreciative of this opportunity!

I received a very generous 5 pound container (5 pound!) of the vanilla flavor Friday evening. I began by using 1 scoop Saturday and Sunday as my morning shakes; I did not workout either day. Today I also had 1 scoop as a morning shake and will also have 2 scoops post-workout this afternoon. I will continue to use the Wicked Whey as my morning catabolic-reversal shake as well as a post-workout recovery shake. I find that it mixes very well; almost instantly in fact! I was a bit dubious about the vanilla flavor, but I actually enjoy it. It tastes like melted vanilla ice cream- Mmmm!

I will be following a modified Max-OT style of workout. I do have tendonitis in my left arm so higher volume training will be utilized for some exercizes. Because of this, I expect to experience a higher incidence of DOMS and look forward to seeing how well I recover on the Wicked Whey.

Yesterday I had my first workout using Wicked Whey as my post workout recovery protein. First let me say that I had a truly crappy weekend followed by a highly annoying day at work on Monday- so I was really ready for the gym! I broke a record! Here's how Leg Day went down:

Extensions for warm-up - 2 sets at 120 for 10 reps

Leg Press - 2 x 435 x 6
2x 445 x 5 (record breakers!)

Squat- 3 x 120 x 5 (my weight has actually gone way down on these. Something weird is going on. )

SLDL's- 1x 145 x 7
2x155 x 5 (I originally wrote 2. It was 5!)
1 x 155 x 4 (I thought I was going to hurl on this last set  )

I regained my composure quickly and realized that I was hungry! The Wicked Whey really hit the spot, made my walk home bearable, and bought me some time to prepare a steak for dinner. Yum!

Legs are a little stiff this morning; I don't expect to experience any DOMS until the next 24 hours. We shall see about recovery then!
