hey fellas wondering if you guys think it would be optimal to add ground flaxseed to oatmeal (not around training of course), but with meals such as breakfast, lunch....youll knockout pretty much some essential EFAs and quality slow carbs all at once with your protein source (whatever it make be during those meals). any input?

Both my wife and I put ground flax in our oats. I say do it.

I also add fruit to the shake as ground flax is not the tastiest.

another scenerio, do you think adding flaxseed into oatmeal would be more beneficial or less then say eating 1oz of dry roasted unsalted almonds for a quality fat source?

If you changed that to RAW almonds it would be a virtual tie. However, roasting/cooking nuts removes a lot of their nutritional value. If you go the nut route, it is best to always go with raw nuts. Either whole ground flax seeds or raw almonds would be an excellent fat source (not to mention a source of fiber, valuable vitamins & minerals, etc).

well, i tried it out..and it was great fellas. heres my new oatmeal variation...tasted just fine! -3/4dry oats -3tspb of whole ground flaxseed -1/4cup fresh blueberries -cinnamon powder (as much as you like) -cook in 1 1/3 - 1 1/2 cups of water - extra you can add a 1/3-1/2 scoop of whey isolate to the mix for a little extra flavor and protein. .....all your essential fats, slow-carbs, antioxidants and TONS of fiber all in one now just add the 12 eggwhites on the side like me, and there's your breakfast perfect for pre-contest!

You can also add your favorite Peanut butter (oraganic prefferred) to oatmeal. Add it after you heated it up and stir it in. Mixes well and makes it very creamy.
I really don't give a F@ck if you don't like my opinion, you're still going to get it.

I always mix in some honey (1 tbsp) into my oatmeal to replenish glycogen stores depleted during the night. Superkent- Power Butter is a fantastic prouct. Tastes exactly like natural peanut butter. Nutritional profile is way better though. I did a post a while back called "Good Whole Food Suggestions" wherein I talked about Power Butter quite a bit. Give it a try- You won't be disappointed.
